Using the Scanning Manager

To create a custom scan using the Scanning Manager simply left click on the Scans tab at the top of the Market Analyst window. The main screen for the Scanning Manager will then display.

Creating a scan has been simplified by making use of a step-by-step wizard that asks you all the necessary questions for creating a scan that meets your requirements.

To create a new scan click on the New Scan button and follow the following steps.

Step 1 - Scan Criteria

In this window you will be asked to select from a list of available scan criteria, once you have selected the scan criteria you want to use, change the properties of that criteria to suit your needs.

If you want to be able to use the scan criteria you just created at a later stage for different scans, select the Save As Template button and give the scan criteria a name. Next time you create a scan you will then be able to select that scan by clicking on the Load Template button.

When you have finished selecting the scan criteria for your scan click on the Next button to continue to Step 2.

Step 2 - Date Range

At this point you need to select the date range you wish to scan. Make a selection from the drop down menu and then click the Next button to continue to the next step.

Step 3 - Select Data Folders

Now you have to select the data files you would like to scan. The left hand side of the screen will list all the available data folders on your computer. At this point you can select several different items to scan, you have the choice of scanning, existing workbooks (i.e. Data Files that existing in that workbook), Scan Results, or raw data groups (e.g. the ASX, World Indices etc...)

At this point you can also decide if you want to ignore any data files with codes of more than three characters (Options and Warrants). If you want to ignore these data files place a tick in the box.

Make sure you have selected a data group and then click the Next button to continue to the next step.

Step 4 - Name of Saved Scan

At this step you need to give a name to the scan you have just created. Type in a name and hit the Finish button.

Step 5 - Execute the Scan

You will now be taken back to the Scanning Manager main screen. Select the scan you just created from the list on the left, then click the Execute Scan button.

The scan will start and the results will be displayed in the Scan Results window.
