The MACD Crossover scan, searches for when the Moving Average of the MACD crosses the Signal line of the MACD while above or below a value of zero. It can also search for when the Moving Average crosses the Signal line regardless of the value.

Properties

The above settings would scan for a 5 bar moving average crossing a MACD, using a 5 and 25 bar moving average. The cross would occur while above a value of 0. The MACD scan would be applied to a Daily chart.

Scan For

  • Crossover Above 0
Select this option to scan for when the Moving Average crosses the MACD line and its value is above 0.
  • Crossover Below 0
Select this option to scan for when the Moving Average crosses the MACD line and its value is below 0.
  • Cross Above Signal
Select this option to scan for when the Moving Average crosses above MACD line. Its value is not considered
  • Cross Below Signal
Select this option to scan for when the Moving Average crosses below MACD line. Its value is not considered

MA 1 & MA 2

These are the two moving averages used to calculate the MACD.

MA 3

This is the Moving Average of the MACD. Setting this to 30 would create a 30 period Moving Average of the MACD.

Period Type

This setting sets the period type to use when calculating the Moving Average. For example, by selecting Daily the moving average will be calculated off a day bar period (a daily chart), if it was set to Weekly, it would be calculated off a Weekly bar period (a weekly chart). You can select from the following options.

  • Daily
  • Weekly
  • Monthly
  • Yearly
