To Open the Portfolio Manager, click on the New menu icon and select Portfolio from the list displayed.

The first time you select the Portfolio option, the Portfolio Manager Settings Wizard window will be displayed. You will need to enter in various information such as brokerage details and data sources.
The New Broker window requires the following details
• Broker’s Name
• Brokerage
• Set Value or Percent
• Brokerage Tax
To save the information, left click on the Save button
Optional fields include Leverage %, SRN and HIN references.
Once the brokerage information has been saved, select a data source to use with the Portfolio Manager. (Please note, the Portfolio Manager is only compatible with Market Analyst data. If you do not use Market Analyst data, un-tick the checkbox. This will allow you to manually input closing prices, etc).
Click the Close button to continue to the Portfolio summary window.
The main Market Analyst Portfolio Chart screen will be displayed. It is from this point that you can create new Portfolios or load existing Portfolios.
To add a new Portfolio, click on the New Portfolio button.
The New Portfolio window will open. Type a name for the portfolio in the Portfolio Name field, then click the Create Portfolio button. The new Portfolio will be displayed in a Summary window. Left click on the Open Portfolio button to begin entering a transaction into the selected Portfolio.
The Portfolio Position window will display. Locate the Enter Trade button and left click it once.
The Enter Transaction window will be displayed.
By selecting the drop down arrow to the right of the Date, a calendar will appear. Using this calendar, set the date of the buy order

The next step is to select the security Code of the data file that you want to use for the order.
Type the security code into the Code field, and then press the TAB button on your keyboard. After you press TAB, Market Analyst 5 will search for this data file and display the name and price once it is found. You may also select an account the money will be taken from in processing the transaction (account must be created first).

Enter (or modify) the Quantity, Price Per Unit, Brokerage, Brokerage Tax (e.g. GST), Type and Classification fields. A Leveraged value can also be entered if applicable.

Once all the fields have been entered, click on the Store button

Tip
Pressing the Cancel button will close the Enter Transaction window without logging the trade.
The main Portfolio Chart window will open, and your transaction will be displayed as illustrated below:
