The creation of a scan using the wizard is broken into four sections:
• Selecting the Criteria you want the data to pass.
• Selecting the Date / Date range the scan is to cover.
• Selecting the Data group the scan is to use.
• Entering a name for the newly created scan.
To begin, left click the New Scan button located in the Saved Scans window. The Create New Scan wizard will then display.
Select Scans Window

From this window you can select the criteria you want the scan to look for. There is no limit to the number of criteria you can have in one scan.
Click on the + next to the Tool group containing the criteria you want to scan for (Averages, for example).
Left click on the criteria to select it (will highlight in blue).
Click the arrow pointing to the right to add the criteria to the Selected Scans table.
The Properties for the criteria will be displayed. Adjust as required.
Once you have added all the scan criteria, click the Next button to continue.
Select Date Range Window

The second step in creating a scan is to select a date or date range the scan will cover.
The following options are available in the Dates to Scan field:
• Today
• Yesterday
• Last Week
• Last Month
• Selected
• Range
The Selected option activates the Start Date field, allowing you to choose a specific date
using a calendar window. (Some scan criteria, such as the Relative Comparison Scan require this date option to be selected).
The Range option activates the Start and End Date fields, allowing you to choose a custom range of dates to scan.
Click on the drop down arrow and select the desired date option.
Click on the Next button to continue.
Select Data Folders Window

A Data group can be created from a number of sources:
• Securities contained within a Workbook.
• Securities contained in the result’s file of a previous scan.
• Data supplied directly by Market Analyst.
• Data supplied via a 3rd party data provider (must be in a CSI or Metastock format).
In this example we will use data supplied directly by Market Analyst to create a data group.
In the Select a Data Group section, click on the + next to Market Analyst Data Services folder.
A list of available exchanges will be displayed. In this example we will scan the entire ASX Shares exchange, however you can choose to continue expanding the folders down to specific sectors and sub-sectors.
Left click on the ASX Shares folder once to select it (will highlight in blue).
Left click the Add button.

The Save Data Group window will display. By default, the name of the folder you selected will be used, however you can change the data group’s name if you want to.
Click on OK to save the group into the Selected Data Groups section.
If you have previously created a scan, the data group(s) you selected for the scan will already be displayed in the Selected Data Groups section. If you want to use the same data groups for the new scan you are creating, simply left click once on the checkbox next to the data group’s name.
Once you have selected all the data groups you want the scan to cover, left click on the Next button.
Enter Name for Scan Window

The final step is to enter a unique name for the new scan. By default, the name of the first criteria you selected for the scan will be used as the name. You can change this to suit your needs (using Alpha Numeric characters only).
To complete the scan, left click the Finish button.
