Using the Structure Panel to Organise your Analysis

The Structure Panel’s primary purpose is to help you arrange analysis under different layers, giving you greater control when hiding / displaying a set of tools. The Structures Panel will display in tree form.  With the main controller at the top, then specific

layers, followed by the contents of each layer (tools, charts, etc).

Everything that is displayed on the chart will be available to select on the Structure Panel.

Hiding a Layer

To hide a layer from view, left click once on the layer you want to hide.  Displayed in the Control Panel on the left hand side will be a number of Properties.  Locate the option called Layer Visible and untick it.  To show the layer again, simply tick the Layer Visible checkbox again.

Locking a Layer

You can lock a layer so that the items within the layer can’t be modified. To do this, left click once on the layer you want to lock.  Displayed in the Control Panel on the left hand side will be a number of Properties.  Locate the option called Layer Locked and tick it.  To unlock the layer again simply untick the Layer Locked checkbox.

Other Layer Properties

Below is a breakdown of Layer Properties as displayed in the Control Panel:

Is Layer Linked

When two or more Layers are displayed under one view, you can set whether the layers are linked (items such as price scales are shared across the layers), or whether the layers are separate (used when merging two windowed tools together into one).

Exporting / Importing Layers

Similar to Templates, exporting layers allows you to save the contents of a layer for use on future charts.  The significant difference between Exported Layers and templates, is that when you import a layer onto a chart, any existing work you have on the chart remains as well.

Exporting a Layer

To export a layer, add all the tools and indicators you want the layer to include.  Once the layer has been created, left click on the word Layer in the Structures Panel.

In the window displayed, enter a name for the Layer and click Save.

The Layer will be exported, ready for use on future charts.

Importing a Layer

To import a layer, open the chart.
Go to the Structure Panel on the right hand side and left click the View item.

A list of exported layers will be displayed, double click the one you want to import.  The new layer will be added to the existing chart:

The indicators will be added to the chart, without removing any previous analysis you had on the chart.
