This article will take you through the process of creating a workbook from a list of codes saved in a CSV file.  This is a great time saver if you want to create a large workbook from a list of codes provided by a 3rd party.  A good example is a list of codes that your broker allows short trades on.

A sample CSV file has been attached to this article and can be downloaded for use with this tutorial.  The download link for this file can be found at the bottom of this article.

Step 1 - Formatting the CSV file

It is important that the CSV file contain only one column of data.  This column should contain the list of codes you want to open only.  There should be no Column labels / headers of any kind.

Once the CSV has been formatted and saved continue on to Step 2.

Step 2 - Opening the CSV file in Market Analyst 5

To create a workbook using this list of codes -

1.  Open Market Analyst 5.
2.  Left click on the Files menu.
3.  In the menu displayed left click on the Open Workbook option.

4.  In the window displayed navigate to the folder the CSV file is saved in.
5.  Change the File Type field to CSV File.

6.  Double click on the CSV file.

7.  The workbook will then be created.

Step 3 - Saving the Workbook

To save the workbook left click on the Files menu and select the Save Workbook option.  Enter a name when prompted and click the Save button to complete the saving process.
