Autosave Workbook

An Auto-save function for workbooks has now been incorporated into Market Analyst 5.  This function allows you to safe guard against un-intentional changes saved to a workbook.



Note - The Auto-save was added to Market Analyst 5 in update 5.3 Build 26.  if you do not have the Auto-Save fundtion you will need to update the program via the Help menu.

Enabling the Auto-save function.

Be default the auto-save is not enabled.  To turn on the autosave function do the following -

1.  Open Market Analyst 5
2.  Left click the Settings menu and in the list displayed left click General Settings.
3.  In the window displayed the Auto-Save Workbook window will be displayed automatically.
4.  Tick the Auto-Save Current Workbook checkbox.
5.  Click OK.

Adjusting the Auto-Save settings.

While you are in the Auto-Save settings window described above there are 2 adjustments you can make -

Auto-save every x minutes:  Set to 10 minutes by default this option allows you to increase / decrease the interval between auto-saves.

Keep at most x auto-saves per workbook:
  Set to 5 by default this option allows you to increase / decrease the number of autosaves of each workbook are made before the oldest file is deleted and replaced.

Note - The greater the number of workbook backups saved, the greater the amount of hard disk space is required.

Restoring a workbook from the Auto-Save screen.

Note - Before you being you must ensure no workbooks are currently open in Market Analyst 5.

1.  Open Market Analyst 5
2.  Left click the Settings menu and in the list displayed left click General Settings.
3.  In the window displayed the Auto-Save Workbook window will be displayed automatically.
4.  Displayed in the Existing Auto-Saves window will be a list of backed up workbooks.  Locate the workbook you wish to restore and click the + next to it.
5.  The backups will be listed by the time they were made.  Locate the most recent backup and left click it.
6.  Left click the Restore Selected Workbook button.

    

7.  When asked to confirm the action click Yes.
8.  The workbook will be restored and will automatically open for you.

Deleting a backed up workbook.

1.  Open Market Analyst 5
2.  Left click the Settings menu and in the list displayed left click General Settings.
3.  In the window displayed the Auto-Save Workbook window will be displayed automatically.
4.  Displayed in the Existing Auto-Saves window will be a list of backed up workbooks.  Locate the workbook you wish to delete and click the + next to it.
5.  The backups will be listed by the time they were made.  Locate the backup you wish to delete and left click it.
6.  Left click the Delete button.
