MA6 Issue with EOD Data Downloads

Issue

On the 26th of July 2011 we encountered a communications issue with one of our data servers.  While in most cases Market Analyst will switch to an alternative data server automatically, there are some cases where this process needs to be done manually.

If you are experiencing problems downloading your End of Day data please follow these steps:

Procedure

1.  Open Market Analyst 6 while you are connected to the Internet.

2.  Go to the Settings menu and select the General Settings option.

3.  In the window that displays, left click the Download Settings option.

4.  Go to the Download Server Options section on the right hand side.  Click on the drop down arrow and select Data1.market-analyst.com

5.  Click OK

6.  Go to the  Settings menu again and select Advanced Data Settings.

7.  Under the Exchange tab locate the desired exchange that you are having data gaps on (ASX Shares for example).

8.  Locate the Download Daily Data button on the right hand side and left click it once.  The download process should begin.  Once completed your data should be up to date.

If you continue to experience any problems after running through this process please submit a ticket with our support team here.

DXDIAG is a Windows diagnostic utility that allows collection of detailed information about a system's hardware and Windows component configuration, with the option to save this information to a text file. The information in this file can be very helpful when troubleshooting technical issues related to Market Analyst software.

Use the following procedure to create and save a DXDIAG report to include with support requests sent to the Market Analyst Support Department.

  1. From your Windows "Start" button, select "Run..."

  2. Type DXDIAG in the "Open:" field and hit Enter.

  3. DXDIAG will start, and may display a prompt that begins "Do you want to allow DxDiag to check if your drivers are digitally signed..." Answer "Yes" to this query if it appears.

  4. A window entitled "DirectX Diagnostic Tool" appears, and in the lower left corner, a progress meter begins to advance towards the right as DXDIAG collects information relating to the system's hardware and Windows component configuration.

  5. When the progress indicator disappears, hit the "Save All Information" button. Save this file as DXDIAG.TXT where it can be easily located. By default, DXDIAG will place this file on the Desktop.

Note: If you do not see a button that allows you to save the output, you will need to log on to Windows as the Administrator.

  6. Attach this file to your support ticket submission,  or email the file to support@market-analyst.com.

AVG Anti Virus False Positive

An update released by AVG on the 31-01-2011 has caused some people to encounter an incorrect report stating Market Analyst 6.exe is infected with a virus.

Reporting the False Positive

In the case where AVG Free detects a file on your PC as infected, moves it to the AVG Virus Vault, and you are sure that this file is correct and clean, it is possible that the detected file is a false alarm. If so, AVG will prepare the correction as soon as possible. Unfortunately, false alarms do appear from time to time in every Anti-Virus software.

To solve the problem, please send AVG the file for analysis directly from the AVG Free program this way:

  • Open AVG Free User Interface.
  • Choose the "Virus Vault" option from the "History" menu.
  • Right-click the false positive file and select the "Send to analysis" option from context menu.
  • Fill in your e-mail address
  • Confirm the dialog

This file will be sent to AVG virus specialists for analysis and we will inform you about the result.

Once you have reported the issue to AVG, you should be able to select the file in the virus vault and select the "restore" option.
